Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter labeled Meghan Markle as the “Undine Spragg of Montecito” after the latter married Prince Harry, quit the royal family and moved to California.

The Canadian journalist seemingly compared the Duchess of Sussex to Undine Spragg, a character in Edith Warton’s 1913 novel, “The Customs of the Country,” while chatting with Interview Magazine in a piece published on Thursday.

According to Lit Charts, Undine Spragg is a woman from the Midwest who attempts to join the high society of Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Throughout the novel, the woman marries and separates from various men to climb the social ladder and surround herself with those who admire her.

Spragg, who represents greed and ambition, “feels little satisfaction in achieving her goals and often finds herself haunted by her failures,” per the website.

At the end of the book, she gets everything she desires but remains unsatisfied.

Reps for Markle, 43, weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.

It’s unclear why Carter, 75, referred to Markle as the “Undine Spragg of Montecito” but the latter walked away from her career in Hollywood to wed Harry, 40, in 2018.

The couple lived in England until they exited the royal family in 2020 after some of Harry’s relatives allegedly shared concerns about their son Archie’s skin color.

That same year, Markle and the Duke of Sussex purchased a $14 million megamansion in Montecito, Calif., where they are currently raising their son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 3.

They have since sought success in The Golden State and signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix in 2020.

Markle and Harry have released several projects on the platform, including their 2022 docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” and 2025 series, “With Love, Meghan.”

The duo also secured a $25M Spotify deal in 2021 and launched their “Archetypes” podcasts.

However, they cut ties with the platform in 2023 after an insider told The Post that they didn’t make enough content to take home their multi-million dollar paycheck.

Earlier this month, Markle announced she was taking another shot at podcasting with her “Confessions” podcast with Lemonada Media.

The actress also recently launched her American Riveria lifestyle brand last year, which she rebranded to As Ever.
