Brooke Mueller revealed that while he ex-husband Charlie Sheen – who has also dealt with substance abuse issues in the past — understands her addiction struggles, he still doesn’t get why she can’t “just stop” using drugs.

“He knows his whole addiction history, and [thinks], ‘If I can just stop without one AA meeting or without needing any whatever, then why can’t you?’ ” Mueller told People in an interview published Tuesday.

“I think he thinks it’s more about just making a choice, and then with the addiction [mindset], sometimes we don’t have a choice. We get to a point to where we don’t have a choice.”

She added, “But if I look back at our marriage, he was always one that could shut it off and turn it off and go to sleep, and I would be taking the car sneaking out to Skid Row.”

Still, Mueller, 47, said that the “Two and a Half Men” star, 59, is the “first person” she calls for “help,” as she further revealed he’s “always there to help me and pick up the pieces.”

Sheen, who has been vocal about some of his own sobriety milestones in the past, revealed he made the choice to live a sober lifestyle in December 2018, saying it “had to be done.”

After the “Witchouse” actress’ 2023 relapse following six years of sobriety, Mueller revealed she now refers to herself as a “stage four” addict, which she describes as “that cycle where you just have these relapses, no matter how well you get, and no matter how many years, it’s just a matter of time.”

Sources close to Mueller told Page Six in December 2023 that she had enrolled herself in a 12-step program after falling off the wagon, and it was “really working for her.”

Mueller and Sheen were married from 2008 until 2011. They share twin sons Bob and Max, 16.

Charlie is also dad to daughter Cassandra Esteves, 40, whom he welcomed with ex-girlfriend Paula Profit, as well as daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 19, both of whom he shares with ex-wife Denise Richards.

After their custody agreement was modified following her 2023 relapse, Mueller revealed in September 2024 that the twins lived with her full time, and her co-parenting relationship with Sheen was “fantastic.”

It appears things are still going well for the pair as she echoed a similar sentiment in her Tuesday interview, explaining that the exes “share custody” of their boys and “co-parent without attorneys.”

“And I’m very grateful for that. The fact he gives me yet another chance shows his deep true heart underneath,” she said, noting that Sheen lives in the same complex as her.

Though, while she admits her boys are “thriving,” she admitted that they’ve been subjected to an “unfair” situation because of her addiction.

“The sad reality, is they get used to it — Mommy is going to relapse again one day,” she told the outlet.

“They’ve never tried a drink or drugs or been on a date yet. I can’t tell you what I was doing at 15. They ended up being with their group of friends that happened to be really good kids.”

A rep for Sheen wasn’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
