Angelina Jolie is starting to understand what it feels like to be an empty nester.
The mom of six did a candid interview with The New York Times in which she talked briefly about her kids. The Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star shared that one of her sons has moved into her apartment in New York City. Jolie, 49, didn’t specify which one of her three sons — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, or Knox, 16 — is living in the Big Apple, but she did say that the home has become a sort of “crash pad” for all of the kids.
Jolie — who shares Maddox, Pax, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and Knox and Vivienne, both 16, with ex-husband Brad Pitt— even shared a relatable mom moment with the outlet.
“The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like, ‘Can you just give me a day to clean?’” she recalled. “I thought, ‘I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother. But also, how bad is it?’” she added.
The Jolie-Pitt clan is sometimes seen out and about. Back in February, photos of Pax walking a dog in Los Angeles popped up online and, earlier this month, Shiloh was seen walking to a dance studio in the Studio City neighborhood. As the kids have gotten older, it seems they’ve been given more freedom and flexibility. Many of them have made red carpet appearances with their mom in recent years, as well.
Meanwhile, when she’s not on location filming, Jolie spends a great deal of time in Los Angeles with her two youngest children, which she says is due to her divorce.
“I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2024. As for where Jolie plans to go, she said she will spend a great deal of time in Cambodia.
She’s got quite a few upcoming projects in the works however, including reprising her role as Maleficent. In a 2023 interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jolie confirmed that Disney was moving forward with the next installment of the franchise — and that she’d signed on to be a part of it.
