Den of Thieves 2: Pantera began streaming on Netflix last week, and quickly shot to the top of the streamer’s top 10 trending titles list. Now everyone wants to know: Is there a Den of Thieves 3 movie coming out?!
It took seven years to even get a sequel to the 2018 heist flick, Den of Thieves, starring Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. Written and directed by Christian Gudegast, who also wrote and directed the first film, Den of Thieves 2 finds sheriff “Big Nick” O’Brien (Butler) once again tracking down the criminal Donnie Wilson (Jackson Jr.), who escaped to Europe and is planning another heist.
No spoilers, but those who watched the movie know that the Den of Thieves Pantera ending implies that the saga of Big Nick and Donnie is far from over. So will there be a Den of Thieves 3 movie? And if so, when is the Den of Thieves 3 movie release date?

Will there be a Den of Thieves 3?
Den of Thieves 3 is in development, according to a Deadline report from January. The news was announced about three weeks after Den of Thieves 2 opened in theaters, where it made over $56 million at the worldwide box office.
Writer/director Christian Gudegast said that he already has the third movie planned out, and even already pitched Den of Thieves 3 to the studio executives.
“It’s already pitched. It’s already done. We’re ready to go,” Gudegast said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, a few weeks before the Deadline announcement. “We’re feeling very good about it.”
It seems that pitch went well, because Lionsgate, Tucker Tooley Entertainment and Gerard Butler‘s G-BASE production company are now actively developing the third movie. According to the Deadline report, both stars Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. will return for Den of Thieves 3 cast. The movie will be released by Lionsgate.
Den of Thieves 3 release date:
The Den of Thieves 3 release date has not yet been announced. Even though the third movie is in development, it is not yet in production. In an interview with Collider from February, Jackson Jr. said he didn’t yet have his Den of Thieves 3 script.
That means you’ll likely have to wait at least a year before seeing Den of Thieves 3 in theaters. The second movie filmed from April to July 2023, and came out over a year later, in early 2025. If the sequel starts filming this year, the soonest you’ll likely see Den of Thieves 3 in theaters is in 2026.
That said, we expect the wait for Den of Thieves 3 to be a lot shorter than the seven-year wait for the second film. If you survived that, you can handle a year or so’s wait for the third movie, right?
