Elon Musk has finally responded to his 20-year-old daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, taking him apart last week in Teen Vogue. Musk, whom Wilson said she has not had contact with nor received any financial support from since 2020, when she came out as transgender, took to X (formerly Twitter) Saturday to declare that Wilson had “died,” using the name that Wilson has legally abandoned, as well as misgendering her. The cause of death, according to Musk, is “the woke mind virus.”
“Now the woke mind virus will die,” Musk concluded.
In her response, shared via Instagram Sunday, Wilson made good on her statement that “the only thing that gets to live free in my mind are drag queens.”

In the clip, Wilson, dressed in black cargo pants and a black camisole, showed a screenshot of daddy dearest’s tweet, annotating to point out her “old name” with a transgender flag emoji, then lip-syncing to audio: “I look pretty good for a dead bitch.”
The sound is pulled from RuPaul’s Drag Race, when former contestant Morgan McMichaels reentered the show’s all-star competition.
Wilson, along with twin brother Griffin, is Musk’s eldest living known child. Wilson’s mother, Justine Wilson, was married to Musk from 2000 to 2008. Their first child, Nevada, was born in 2002 and died at 10 weeks old of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Vivian and Griffin were born in 2004.
Musk has gone on to become a prolific procreator, contributing his genetics to at least 14 known children, by way of at least four women.
Drag Race is also how Wilson found out about at least one of these younger half-siblings: “I found out about Grimes having a second child because a drag queen posted about it on Reddit,” she told Teen Vogue, revealing that a tweet about the musician “poppin out another axolotl” had been shared to the Drag Race subreddit that Wilson frequents.
Wilson also told the magazine that she honed her “sharp tongue” thanks to hours spent in “online communities of queer people who are constantly getting into drama” during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.
“Getting into fights with other queer teenagers—that’s how you learn how to be quick and witty,” she said.
Musk’s tweet, a repeat of other “woke mind virus” remarks he’s previously made about Wilson, was in response to another user’s not-really-a-defense of Musk tossing out what looked a lot like a Nazi salute on Donald Trump’s inauguration day.
As Wilson, in the interview, put it, “Honey, we’re going to call a fig a fig, and we’re going to call a Nazi salute what it was. That shit was definitely a Nazi salute.” The tweet Musk was responding to characterized the motion as a “quirky salute” and asserted, “Has Elon killed even a single person? No. And just because his son says something, that doesn’t necessarily make it true.”
Yet again, though he has had 61 entire days to do so, Musk didn’t deny that the gesture was a Nazi salute. Instead, he recycled that same old line about his daughter.
