EXCLUSIVE: The Camden Film Quarter has moved a step closer after the local authority in the London district adopted the so-called ‘Masterplan Vision’ for the new development.
As revealed by Deadline, the plan is to create a neighborhood with film and TV at its core in Kentish Town in the London Borough of Camden. As well as soundstages and workshop space, there will be a new London Screen Academy campus and public-facing studio tours.
A ‘Masterplan’ outlined the framework and long-term proposition. This plan – also referred to as ‘Area Guidance’ – has now been officially adopted by the London Borough of Camden.

Yoo Capital is behind the Camden Film Quarter, which has a price tag of about £1BN ($1.3BN). It is the real estate investment firm behind the redevelopment of London’s Olympia and the Saville Theatre, which will become the first permanent UK home of Cirque du Soleil.
The next stage is for Yoo Capital to submit more detailed plans and secure planning permission. It is expected these plans will be submitted later this year. If planning is then forthcoming, work could start in 2026. The first soundstages could come into operation in 2028.
Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner, Yoo Capital, said: “We are thrilled that the Regis Road Area Guidance has been adopted by Camden, marking a step towards our vision to bring forward a world-class destination for film, television and digital content production in the heart of Camden.”
He said the plan is based on several interlinked pillars, which, as they relate to the film and TV sector, include “long-term employment with innovative SMEs and major global employers in the creative industries.”
With the intention to provide education and training facilities, affordable housing, and new public spaces, the plans have won favor with local politicians.
“The adoption of the Regis Road Area Guidance is a big step for Kentish Town,” said Councilor Adam Harrison, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden. “Not only do we have a clear, community-driven plan for the area’s future, but the exciting prospect of the Camden Film Quarter adds another layer of opportunity.
