There’s no doubt Aimee Lou Wood’s infectious smile is having a big impact on fans of The White Lotus.
The season three star—who real ones will remember from Sex Eduction—recently discussed various comments she’s seen about her teeth during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. “I can’t believe the impact my teeth are having, because the Americans can’t believe [my teeth],” she told the British talk show host on March 21. “But they’re all being lovely.”
In The White Lotus season three, Wood plays Chelsea, the horoscope-obsessed younger girlfriend of Walter Goggins’ character, Rick Hatchett. As Wood described in her latest interview, the internet’s enthusiastic response to her veneer-free, gap-tooth grin has been loud.
For example, Vanity Fair recently posted an article with the headline, “White Lotus Star Aimee Lou Wood’s Teeth Aren’t Just Charming—They’re Inspiring,” while The New York Times published their own, titled, “The Novelty of Aimee Lou Wood’s Natural Smile.”
Over on Instagram, Wood says she’s seen orthodontists “dissecting” her teeth with various terms she couldn’t recall in the moment, but that the videos all ended on the same “lovely” note.
“But then at the end, [they] go, ‘but we don’t think she should change a thing,’” she said. “It feels so lovely—a real full circle moment after being bullied for my teeth forever. Now people are clapping in an audience.”
For anyone wondering, one dentist on TikTok referred to the space between her two front teeth as a “diastema,” but Wood doesn’t want anyone requesting the look at the dentist’s office—or worse, attempting some kind of DIY dental cosmetic procedure.
“I hope that that people don’t start, like, filing their teeth [so] they have gaps,” she replied when Ross suggested people might go to the dentist and say, “I want teeth like that.” You can watch the entire segment here:
This is not the first time Wood has spoken about her distinctive smile while promoting The White Lotus season three. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she she said refusing veneers and Botox “feels a bit rebellious” in Hollywood circles.
The 31-year-old actor also hinted towards the bullying she experienced while doing her “rare” makeup routine for an Instagram Reel earlier this month.
“Playing loads of different characters has really helped with my self confidence surrounding beauty, because it’s meant I had to surrender control a lot,” she said while applying Merit Beauty’s Signature Sheer Lip Liner. “A big thing for me growing up was my mouth, because it was the thing that everyone pointed out, and it was the thing that made me different.”

Wood went on to say she’d “never seen an actress on TV with teeth like mine” until Georgi May Jagger’s Rimmel London commercial advertising “the London look.”
“That was a huge moment,” Wood said. “I thought, ‘No, I am going to put red lipstick on and I am going to draw attention to it.’”
Now, it seems Aimee Lou Wood will be many other women’s Georgia May Jagger… Just don’t force it.
