McNeese defeated Clemson 69-67 on Thursday. Brandon Murray came off the bench to score a team-high 21 points on 10-for-18 shooting to help lead the Cowboys to the upset victory. Christian Shumate had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Purdue took down High Point 75-63. HPU had been a trendy upset pick, but Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 21 points and grabbed eight boards to help the Boilermakers avoid the upset loss and move on to the second round. Braden Smith added 20 points for Purdue and dished out six assists in the win.
