The Seoul Central District Court has sided with ADOR in the ongoing management dispute over NewJeans, naming the HYBE-owned label as the group’s legitimate exclusive management agency.
The court has granted the company’s request for a preliminary injunction, barring the group’s members from signing advertising contracts independently (or via third parties) without ADOR’s approval. ADOR also announced that the group should only be referred to as “NewJeans” rather than “NJZ” — the name used by the members during their recent rebrand — and that “all entertainment activities” can only be negotiated with the label.
ADOR released the statement, ”We express our sincere gratitude for the court’s judicious decision to grant the preliminary injunction. With our status as NewJeans’ exclusive agency now legally affirmed, we are fully committed to supporting the artists going forward.”
“We will be fully present at ComplexCon this weekend to guarantee the performance is presented under the NewJeans name. We eagerly anticipate meeting with the artists for a heartfelt conversation at the earliest opportunity,” the label continued. “We sincerely request your ongoing support and encouragement for NewJeans as they continue to grow together with ADOR.”
In 2024, the K-pop group announced its departure from the label and accused its staff of mistreating both them and members of their team.
