Netflix has set a premiere date for Sirens, its female-driven, dark comedy limited series created by Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) and executive produced by LuckyChap.

The five-episode limited series that stars Julianne Moore (May December), Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) is set to bow May 22. The series is an adaptation of Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea that centers on Devon, who thinks her sister Simone has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention. When Devon tracks her sister down to say WTF, she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be.

Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish beach estate, the show is billed as an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class. Moore plays Michaela, while Fahy portrays Devon and Alcock plays her younger sister Simone. The limited series also stars Kevin Bacon (Peter Kell), Glenn Howerton (Ethan Corbin III), Bill Camp (Bruce DeWitt) and Felix Solis (Jose).

Watch on Deadline

In addition to showrunning and writing, Metzler will exec produce for Quiet Coyote, alongside Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Margot Robbie for LuckyChap. Emmy nominee Nicole Kassell (Watchmen) will direct the first two episodes, also serving as EP.

Sirens marks the first series out of Metzler’s creative partnership with Netflix, announced in 2022, and comes on the heels of the Margaret Qualley-led limited series Maid, her first project with the streamer.
