Outlaw Keycards are your way into Fortnite’s Black Market backrooms.
You’re now able to join the Outlaw Faction, which comes with an upgradable Outlaw Keycard. The Outlaw Keycards allows you to enter Black Market backrooms. In the Black Market backrooms, you’ll gain access to extra chests, items, weapons, and more rewards depending on the level of your keycard, which changes depending on how many Outlaw Keycard quests you complete.
Here’s everything you need to know about Outlaw Keycards in Fortnite and how they work.
Update (March 17): The first Community quest has been completed, so we’ve updated the guide with further details on how Outlaw Keycards work.
How to get the Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite
With the community quest completed, players now have access to the common Outlaw Keycard and Outlaw Keycard quests. The common keycard grants you access to the Black Market backrooms, which is a locked room in each Black Market that has rare purchasable items.
The Outlaw Keycard can be found in your resources inventory in-game, but it cannot be dropped or shared. If you want to get the best loot in the backrooms, you’ll need to complete the Outlaw Keycard quests on your own.
All Outlaw Keycard quests in Fortnite
Completing Outlaw Keycard quests will upgrade your keycard — giving you access to more weapons and items in the backrooms with each tier. To see your Outlaw Keycard tier and progression, open the “The Outlaw Keycard” banner located in the Battle Royale quests tab.
The Outlaw Keycard quest tab also shows you the progress in all four of the Outlaw Keycard quests:
- Rob Vaults (3)
- Eliminate bosses or guards (25)
- Spend Bars (1,500)
- Collect Boons or Medallions (2)
Each Outlaw Keycard quest has five stages and their objective stays the same — meaning you’ll need to repeat each quest five times. For example, after you rob three vaults in the first stage, you’ll need to rob three more vaults in the second stage and so on.
As you complete Outlaw Keycard quests, the Outlaw image will begin to fill out and your keycard will upgrade to the next tier — unlocking more rewards in the backrooms.
All Outlaw Keycard tiers in Fortnite
Here’s what each keycard tier will unlock:
- Common Outlaw Keycard: Unlocked after the Community quest is completed, and grants access to the Black Market backrooms.
- Uncommon Outlaw Keycard: Allows you to purchase Exotic items and muscle for hire.
- Rare Outlaw Keycard: Black Market backrooms will have an Outlaw Chest, which contains free bars.
- Epic Outlaw Keycard: Black Market shopkeepers will have the following premium loadouts available for purchase:
- Skillet’s Loadout — Sticky Grenade Launcher, Mammoth pistol, Kneecapper, Chug Jug, Gold Ammo Boon, and Greed Boon.
- Keisha’s Loadout — Falcon Eye Sniper, Outlaw Shotgun, Gold Splashes, Chug Jug, Gold Ammo Boon, and Greed Boon.
- Joss’ Loadout — Holo Twister AR, Pump & Dump, Rocket Drill, Chug Jug, Gold Ammo Boon, and Greed Boon.
- Legendary Outlaw Keycard: Outlaw Chests will now drop a legendary item and a Dill Bit.
Inside the backrooms, you can purchase the following Exotic items for Dill Bits:
- Lawless Heavy Impact Tracking Rifle: Reveals the locations of players and chests around the impact area of your shots.
- Lawless Slap Cannon: Similar to the Chug Cannon, but instead it shoots Slap!
- Lawless Blink Pump & Dump: Provides the player with Zero Point Dash after reloaded.
- Lawless Stink Rifle: Releases a stink cloud at the impact area.
- Lawless Shockwave Rocket Launcher: Shoots a rocket that acts similarly to a Shockwave Grendae.
- Lawless Trinity Assault Rifle: Shoots four shots in a triangle pattern.
How to fix Community quest bug
As the Community quest has been 100% completed, the Outlaw Keycard quests have been unlocked. However, for some players and myself included, the Outlaw Keycard quests have not appeared in the quest tab.
To fix the Community quest bug and see your Outlaw Keycard quests, you’ll need to rob a vault in a regular Battle Royale game — not any of the other variants like Zero Build. Once you complete the match, return to the quest tab to see the quests.
