NFL Quarterbacks Next-in-Line to Receive Massive Payday

The Buffalo Bills just handed Josh Allen a huge payday. According to Over the Cap, he is now tied for second in the NFL with $55 million per season, and second in the NFL behind rival Patrick Mahomes in total money with $330 million.

Allen definitely deserved that money after winning NFL MVP last season and leading the Bills to their fifth consecutive division title.

What now becomes interesting is who are the next quarterbacks to get paid the big bucks. Currently, Dak Prescott is the highest-paid quarterback per year at $60 million, but as of now, it is hard to tell if any current quarterbacks will surpass that any time soon.

There are quarterbacks who could receive somewhere just below Allen’s number at least. Here are a few names in the position who should be paid the big bucks in the near future.

Brock Purdy

Not everyone believes Purdy should be paid a ton, but he should be paid in the ballpark with some of the top-paid quarterbacks at least. Sam Darnold just got signed for $33 million per year, and Purdy is likely considered to be a better QB by most.

While Purdy won’t approach $60 million or even $55 million, a maximum of $50 million per season seems like a possibility. That would put him just below Super Bowl champ Jalen Hurts.

Given how close Purdy came to winning a Super Bowl, if he plays well on the last year of his contract next season, that number would be fair on paper.

CJ Stroud

Stroud still has two years left on his contract, but after two seasons, he has shown capable of leading his team to success.

The Texans surprised people and made the playoffs in his first season, and even in what seemed like a down year for the Texans offense, they made the playoffs yet again.

Stroud clearly has a great baseline talent level and has the potential to be an elite quarterback for years to come.

That could also earn him at least $50 million per year, maybe even $55 million like Allen.

Jayden Daniels

He still has a long way to go, but after leading the Commanders to the NFC Championship, as long as he stays healthy, Daniels should earn a huge payday.

He showed poise and played like a veteran in his rookie season, and still has room to grow. He embodies the modern quarterback, showing off a great balance of throwing and running.

He played like the second coming of Lamar Jackson as a rookie, making him the only quarterback in the league currently who seems worthy of surpassing Prescott’s $60 million mark.

He still has up to four years remaining on his contract, but at some point, both sides will want to work out a big-money extension.
