These two teams have split the season series at one game apiece with Michigan getting the better of Purdue in the last meeting in a two-point 75-73 victory for the Wolverines. The Boilermakers, however, dominated Michigan in the first matchup with a commanding 27-point win.
Trey Kaufman-Renn will lead Purdue into this quarterfinal game fresh off a 30-point performance against USC. Kaufman-Renn has scored at least 29 points in three out of his last four games and will look to keep it rolling as his team gets ready for a potential NCAA Tournament appearance. As a junior, he is 18th in the nation in scoring at just over 20 points per game. A win here would go a long way in helping the Boilermakers’ chances at claiming a spot in the Big Dance.
The Wolverines have been solid this season and are ranked inside the top-25 for a reason, but they need to figure things out in this game. They have lost three in a row, slumping at the worst time of the year. Prior to the stretch, they had won eight of their previous nine games, and they will be looking to regain some of that momentum in this matchup. Vladislav Goldin should be in for a big performance, as the senior center has scored 20-plus points in four straight outings.
