A woman planning a cute date with her husband had an unexpected discovery alter her plans.
Taylor Agost, 28, set up a painting date night with her husband, originally to celebrate his birthday. What he didn’t realize was that she had since found out that she was pregnant, and included a pregnancy announcement in her artwork to surprise him. Agost spoke to Newsweek about the TikTok video documenting the moment of surprise.
In the video, the couple sat across from each other, painting portraits while keeping their canvases turned away. When the big reveal came, Agost’s husband was stunned—not just by how his own painting turned out, but by the fact that his wife had used the session to announce her pregnancy.
“I had already bought some painting supplies for my husband and I to paint each other on his birthday, then when I found out I was pregnant I thought it would be the perfect way to reveal it to him,” Agost told Newsweek.
His reaction was everything she had hoped for.
“My husband was in complete shock when I told him. He has been wanting to have a baby for a few years now, but I was the one that wasn’t quite ready,” she said. “He has always been so excited to be a dad, so when I told him the news, his jaw was on the floor and tears were in his eyes.”

While the pregnancy announcement was a touching moment, her husband’s attempt at painting her added an extra layer of hilarity to the experience. His picture of her was a bit less realistic.
“I laughed at his painting for days,” Agost admitted. “It is especially funny because he was actually trying to make his painting look good and was very disappointed with the way it turned out. I tried to make him feel better about it, but it is absolutely hilarious.”
TikTokers couldn’t get enough of the wholesome reveal, with one user advising her to “frame that for the nursery.”
“Imagine one day he’s going to tell your kid, ‘I painted this portrait of mom the day we found out we were having you,’” another quipped.
Now, the couple is eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first baby.
“We are so unbelievably excited to welcome our baby boy into the world,” Agost said. “I cannot wait to see my husband be a father, because he is the best partner and I know he will be the best dad. We are both young at heart and have so much fun together every single day, and I know growing our family together is going to be the greatest adventure.”
