The New York Giants are currently waiting to hear word if they will land Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers as the team’s next quarterback. Either one would be a fit, and either one might be a stop-gap option for the next franchise quarterback.

The Giants are currently picking No. 3 overall in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Though that is a prime spot to be in, New York could lose the top two quarterback prospects to the quarterback-needy Cleveland Browns (No. 2), and Tennessee Titans (No. 1).
Based on this, a new mock draft has the Giants swinging big and making a trade up to No. 1 overall to select Cam Ward. Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports has stated that New York will make an offer to the Titans to take Ward, guaranteeing their next franchise signal caller.

“The reports are that the Titans like Cam Ward, but they’ll probably like what the desperate Giants will offer them more. After whiffing in free agency, New York trades up to draft its franchise quarterback.”
This would be a wild development. Though the Giants are picking No. 3 overall, the belief would be they would have to give up tons of draft capital to move into the No. 1 overall spot.
It would take more than the No. 1 and No. 3 swap in the first round. The Giants may have to give up their No. 2 (34 overall), more picks, and possibly a player to make this trade happen.
This projection might also be made with the knowledge that the Giants have yet to sign Wilson or Rodgers. Should that happen, it would make sense for New York to remain at No. 3 and hope that Ward would fall there, or that Shedeur Sanders would still be available.
The Giants need a franchise quarterback no matter what, and signing Wilson or Rodgers would only be a temporary measure. Landing Ward or Sanders would be fantastic, and they would presumably learn from two of the most successful veterans in the NFL.
Free agency has made predictions increasingly more difficult due to quarterbacks and star players being moved to new and surprising teams. One thing is for sure, the Giants are more than likely going to take Ward or Sanders in the the first round.
