Aston Martin’s Valkyrie hypercar is set to make its North American competition debut at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring on March 15. The race marks the car’s first outing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and a historic moment as the first Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) to compete in IMSA’s premier GTP category.

Run by the Aston Martin THOR Team, the Valkyrie will be piloted by an accomplished trio: 2022 IMSA GTD champion Roman De Angelis, GTD Pro race winner Ross Gunn and WEC and IMSA race winner Alex Riberas. De Angelis and Gunn will drive the #23 Valkyrie for the full IMSA season, while Riberas joins for Sebring and the season-ending Petit Le Mans.

Developed from the road-legal Valkyrie, the competition-spec machine features a carbon-fiber chassis and a naturally aspirated 6.5L V12 engine. Though capable of over 1,000 hp, IMSA’s hypercar regulations cap its output at 680 hp. Sebring’s punishing track will be the ultimate test for the Valkyrie as Aston Martin returns to top-flight U.S. endurance racing for the first time since 2011.

“This is a huge milestone,” said Alex Riberas. “Sebring is always a challenge, but we’re ready to push the limits.”

The 12-hour endurance race kicks off at 10:10 am ET on March 15, streaming live on IMSA TV and YouTube.
