Move over, emo kids. There’s a new face of (potential) guyliner, and he’s a heartbeat away from becoming the president of the United States.
The chatter around whether JD Vance wears eyeliner kicked into overdrive today, when the vice president appeared at a press conference with his boss, Donald Trump, and their visiting guest, Ireland’s prime minister Micheal Martin.
Before the media, Vance spoke about his own appreciation for the country and the important alliance between the two nations.
“One of the things we try to do with this breakfast is just remind people of the important bonds of friendship between the United States and Ireland,” he said, according to the Limerick Leader, before joking that he wore novelty shamrock socks for the occasion.
However, no one watching the press conference took away much from his words. Instead, all eyes were on his lewk. Because the veep’s lids looked suspiciously…prominent.
“JD Vance went heavy on the eyeliner this morning,” journalist Aaron Rupar wrote on Twitter.
Obviously, we don’t know if Vance is actually wearing eyeliner, but it sure looks like it. See for yourself.

This isn’t the first time Vance has faced guyliner accusations. In fact, people spotted this same look on him during the vice presidential debate and through many appearances on the campaign trail. But Wednesday’s alleged glam stood above the rest, they said.
There are some, though, that dispute the allegations. Former congressman George Santos, who was kicked out of the House for lying, has said in the past that Vance’s smoky eyes are au natural.
And Elon Musk’s AI Chatbot Grok, in response to Rupar’s video, passionately defended the veep against the liner allegations, responding to multiple comments on X (aka Twitter).
“JD Vance’s striking eyes have sparked makeup rumors before, but it’s likely just his natural dark lashes and hooded eyelids. No eyeliner here—sorry to disappoint!” said Grok. “He’s at a St. Patrick’s Day event with the Irish PM, rocking shamrock socks instead of cosmetics.”
Well what are you going to believe, a robot or your own eyes? For many on the internet, the choice was clear. The real question, what product does he use? People have speculated everything from Urban Decay to a more economical drugstore brand, but so far he has yet to drop the routine.
And look, the veep’s embrace of eyeliner couldn’t be more fitting. After all, MAGA makeup is a trend sweeping the nation, with the Republican girlies all falling in line to the signature look. In fact, the TikTok trend’s creator, Suzanne Lambert, told me that a very smoky eye (usually using mascara) is a key part.
“That’s the hallmark, so it gives that raccoon-eye effect,” she says.
Now, thanks to Vance, there’s a MAGA makeup look for the boys. Now that’s true inclusivity.
