After I switched to this Benefit mascara, I started getting constant compliments. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting people to notice that much. Millions of women use mascara every day, which means there are millions of products on the market to meet each and every one lash need.
As a result, it can be difficult to figure out which mascara is right for you and there can be a tendency to stick with what’s familiar. Personally, I’ve had my favorites for several years that I always reach for. These include the Better Than Sex Mascara from Two Faced for volume and the Bad Gal Bang! From Benefit for length and density.
But now, a new mascara has made it onto my vanity and even secured a permanent place in my rotation: Benefit’s “Fan Fest” fanning mascara.

Why this Benefit mascara is my new favorite
Long, fanned-out lashes are currently all the rage when it comes to beauty trends. The look is usually achieved with fake lashes or eyelash lifts, so I was excited to try Benefit’s Fan Fest mascara to see if it would have a similar effect. And I’m really thrilled with the results.
The Fan Fest fanning mascara from Benefit promises “fan-tastic” lashes. This is primarily thanks to a special brush head that’s curved in such a way that it separates the lashes for optimum curl. Also, the flex-wave fiber of the brush helps make the lashes appear more defined and multiplied. Another benefit: The 40-degree curvature lifts the lashes from the roots to the tips and reaches every hair from the beginning to the end of the lash line.
But it’s not just the brush that creates the fanned-out effect. The formulation of the mascara itself also plays a major role, of course. For example, it contains cranberry extract with valuable fatty acids to nourish the eyelashes. Vitamin B5 also ensures a well-groomed eyelash, and rice wax helps to define and separate the hairs and give them that long-lasting curl.
How to use the Fan Fest fanning mascara from Benefit
To apply the Fan Fest mascara, I place the brush on the lash line and move it gently towards the tips. I repeat this process several times and hold the curved brush vertically against the lashes on the last pass for the ultimate curl.

Below you can see the result of the Fan Fest fanning mascara in a before-and-after comparison. As you’ll see, the lashes look multiplied and fanned out. I think it makes my eyes look brighter and more open.

As you can see from the before-and-after photos, this mascara is perfect for creating that fanned-out look. It’s definitely worth the hype! The mascara also lasts really well and has survived stressful office days and sweaty work outs. So yes, it’s recommended.
It’s also great that the mascara can be layered and doesn’t clump or crumble even after repeated application. It feels really light, too. And if you need more volume? I simply layer with one of my other favorite mascaras, like the brand’s Bad Gal Bang volumnizing mascara.
