Every day of Donald Trump‘s second presidential administration is beginning to look a lot more like a new season of The Celebrity Apprentice, according to Jimmy Kimmel.
On Monday’s (March 11) Live, The late night host addressed recent reports that Trump’s underlings Elon Musk and Marco Rubio got into an “uncomfortable” yelling match in the Oval Office before President Trump himself and his cabinet.
“Elon Musk was at the center of an acrimonious cabinet meeting last week he reportedly got into it with Secretary of State Marco Rubio,” Kimmel recounted. “He lashed out at Rubio, claiming Rubio hadn’t fired anyone in his department yet.” Rubio reportedly fired back by reminding Musk he “forced 1,500 people to retire early” and asking the DOGE head if he preferred he hire them back so Musk could “make a show of firing them instead.”
“The argument went on and on for what was described as an uncomfortable amount of time in front of Trump and the whole cabinet, they were yelling, calling each other liars in the oval office,” Kimmel said. “He really has turned this into The Celebrity President.”
Kimmel then joked, “Marco’s Meat Loaf, Elon’s an even weirder Gary Busey,” referring to two of the NBC series’ most famous contestants.
The late night host pointed out President Trump then went to TruthSocial to “spin” the story
“ELON AND MARCO HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP. ANY STATEMENT OTHER THAN THAT IS FAKE NEWS!!! DJT,” the president wrote on social media. Kimmel teased that Trump’s use of the extra exclamation points “make it extra true.”
But the late night host joked the Oval Office blowup likely stems from something else.
“Trump has to give his pets a constant diet of liberals or they start feeding on each other,” he joked.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
