I think I’ve used the Reese’s peanut butter cup analogy way too many times for mod stories, so let’s just say Baldur’s Village, an expansive Stardew Valley mod uploaded to NexusMods on March 8, appears to be the perfect combination for folks who love both Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone’s seemingly infinite farming sim and Baldur’s Gate 3.
“A new village has recently been built north of Pelican Town, and its new residents seem… rather unusual,” the mod’s description reads. “You can find the entrance to Baldur’s Village at the top of the southern mountain map, right next to Linus’ tent.”
As the name implies, Baldur’s Village adds a totally new town to Stardew Valley teeming with characters, locations, and events based on the Baldur’s Gate 3 setting. Not only does the mod allow your Stardew Valley farmer to interact with people like Karlach, Wyll, and Alfira, but it also includes a full romance storyline with Astarion that culminates in marriage. According to the mountain of Astarion fanfiction out there, that should be a huge selling point for a lot of players.
Planned updates to Baldur’s Village include a romanceable Halsin as well as additional world-building and background stories. The creators do say, however, that a lot of this depends on factors like downloads, endorsements, and crowdfunding support, so let’s hope the mod is popular enough for further development.
Since release, Baldur’s Village has received ringing endorsements, not only from fans but also from Swen Vincke, co-founder and CEO of Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios. “So much love went into this,” Vincke said on X (formerly Twitter), “amazing work!”
