Japanese fashion tastemaker Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi has teamed up with Rizzoli for a new book described as “the modern man’s guide to getting dressed.” Poggy Style: Dressing For Work And Play is a men’s style guide premised around balancing the Japanese ideas of hare and ke, antonyms respectively translating to festivity and day-to-day.
The book draws from Poggy’s more than two decades redefining style in his terms, blending traditional Western fashion and Japanese streetwear. Often wearing a hybrid look comprising disparate pieces like hoodies, tweed jackets, sneakers, and topped with a wide-brimmed hat, his distinctive style has earned him collaborations across various industries including Porsche.
In an Instagram post Poggy shared more about the release, “Looking through the pages of this book, I’m taken aback by the sheer variety of clothing I’ve bought over the years: brands with history, streetwear labels, up-and-coming designers, vintage pieces from decades ago, items reflecting my hobbies, and more.” “While maintaining interest in and respect for various cultures, I’ve delved into their contexts to some extent and worn them in a mix-and-match style,” he continued.
Poggy Style: Dressing For Work And Play is out on March 18, via Rizzoli and select retailers.
