On Saturday, Meghan Markle used her Instagram account to honor International Women’s Day. In addition to a photo of her mom, Doria Ragland, the duchess shared a new image of Prince Harry holding their three-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet of Sussex. Like many previous images of the toddler princess, this one only shows her auburn hair, her face turned away from the camera snuggled against her dad’s chest.
“Celebrating the strong women around us and the girls with dreams who will become women with vision,” read the duchess’s caption. “Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”

Since Lilibet’s birth in June 2021, Meghan and Harry have only publicly shared a few photos and videos of their daughter, and only one of them, a portrait taken by friend Misan Harriman at her first birthday party, shows her face. Last week, the duchess shared a video of that featured Lilibet and her baby brother, Prince Archie of Sussex, helping to prepare cookies for Meghan’s visit to The Drew Barrymore Show.
Though the family has said they are concerned for their privacy, the children have played minor roles in their mother’s new business ventures, according to Meghan. Last month, Meghan used a photo of her and Lilibet running outside as the header image for the website for her new brand, As Ever. In an interview with People, Meghan said that she would bring Archie and Lilibet on set while she was filming With Love, Meghan, which premiered last week.
“They would also come with my husband and visit me on-set, and I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that and understand what Mama does and is working to create and share,” she said. “It was really special because up until then, they hadn’t seen me at work.”
Before Meghan joined the royal family, she was known as a campaigner for gender equality, and in 2015, she was a featured speaker at a UN organized event for International Women’s Day, where she spoke a version of her recent Instagram caption. “It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision,” she said at that event. “May we empower each other to carry out such [a] vision, because it isn’t enough to just talk about equality.”
This year, the Archewell Foundation website continued the celebration of women on their website, spotlighting the four women who have won the Archewell-NAACP Award for Digital Civil Rights: Dr. Safiya Noble, Nabiha Syed, Dr. Joy Buolamwini, and Dr. Alondra Nelson. “Today marks International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate all women and recognize their incredible impact on our lives,” a statement read. “At The Archewell Foundation, we are proud to uplift women around the world who inspire us every day and drive meaningful change in their communities.”
