In a recent interview with The Playlist, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight revealed that the upcoming film from the franchise will be receiving a theatrical release. Titled The Immortal Man, the film is produced by Netflix, making the theatrical release quite a rarity.

The film comes after the series aired for six popular seasons between 2013 and 2022. The historical crime drama stars Cillian Murphy who stars as the titular Tommy Shelby. Following the sixth season, Murphy returns to The Immortal Man to reprise his role in the new feature-length World War II film. Knight is expected to write the script that will be directed by Tom Harper. In the interview, Knight shared new details of the film, “We’ve got, I think, the best British acting talent all in one place.” He reveals that he has seen early cuts of the film and said that based on what he has seen, it “is mind-blowingly good.” On the theatrical release, Knight confirmed, “Yes. Well, I’ve just made that announcement. So, yes.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Knight says that the film will be “a fitting end to the first chapter,” and he even adds that there are more Peaky Blinders projects after the film, “Yeah and as long as there’s an appetite for it and people want it and I’ve got stories to tell, then why not?” While that is the case, Knight nor Netflix has not revealed the official premiere date.
