Lady Gaga pulled double-duty on Saturday Night Live on March 8, participating in nearly every sketch as this week’s host and performing two incredible numbers from her new album, Mayhem. And yet, it didn’t look like she even broke a sweat as she and fiancé Michael Polansky walked into the SNL after-party L’Avenue following the 90-minute comedy show.
Gaga arrived in a sparkling black Luis de Javier bodysuit with a matching avant-garde hat by Betto Garcia, finishing the look off with towering Louboutin platform heels and a see-through box clutch. But no matter how many rhinestones adorned her look (or how cute the little mouse resting inside her purse may be), nothing shined brighter than the massive diamond resting on her left ring finger…Well, aside from Gaga herself.
Even partially covered by Polansky’s thumb, the oval-cut stone managed to peak through the pair’s gently clasped hands, proving just how large the ring really is.
According to People, the custom piece by Sofia Jewelry is “set on an 18-karat white and rose gold diamond pavé band with natural pink ombré diamonds and includes a hidden white diamond halo.” It’s estimated to cost between $500,000 to $2 million, per Page Six.
Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky were set up by the pop star’s mom, which she discussed in last night’s opening monologue. “My mom called me one day, and she goes, ‘I met your husband,’” Gaga recalled. “And I said, ‘What does he do?’ And she said, ‘He works in cancer research.’”
Gaga noted she was “literally smoking a cigarette” during that call, adding “And then we went on three dates and I never smoked again…except when I’m drunk.”
Gaga first debuted her engagement ring at the Venice Film Festival in September 2024, five months after Polansky proposed during a rock climbing trip on April Fool’s Day.
“He didn’t propose to me at the top. We climbed up to the top and we looked around and took some photos and then we went back down,” Gaga said during an October appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “And we were just walking back to the room and talking and he said—it was very Michael, to ask me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was OK to propose before he proposed.”
She continued, “he had the ring in his backpack, so it was so super cute, he like got into his backpack and pulled it out.”
No wonder he didn’t propose at the top! Can you imagine accidentally dropping that ring off the side of a cliff? It would’ve been absolute mayhem.
