After presenting its first IM MEN runway in January, Japanese label Issey Miyake has returned to Paris Fashion Week for an extensive display of interactive womenswear. Built around four main pillars, Issey Miyake’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection used the body as an art form, presenting an intricate 50-look collection that many call the best in a decade.

Centered around “Abstract Concrete,” “Body Object,” “Nature Fabrication,” and “Clothing Sculpture,” lead designer Satoshi Kondo finds peace in inexactness. As guests entered the show venue, they were greeted with sculptures of all shapes and sizes. Ribbed knitwear was delicately placed on cement blocks with unusual dress instructions, while shared Issey Miyake garments connected two monstrous bodies at the runway’s center.

Issey Miyake’s tranquil runways never fail to amaze, kicking off the brand’s seasonal spectacle with flowing dancers taking over the main floor. They quickly took their positions, undressing to reveal fresh Issey Miyake gear worn “incorrectly.” Models walked the runway with their hands tucked inside sleeved dresses with ribbed printing, while others sported asymmetrical garments with leftover hip placements. Oversized blazers were layered atop misshapen shirting with dangling arms and pulled collars, followed by puffed tees worn beneath their shrunken counterparts.

Jumbo-sized scarves and pocketed sweater vests came in bold primary hues, while square-shaped puffers with elongated pockets consumed the menswear department. The final ten looks completely stole the show, presenting ballooning fabrics in striped teal, larger-than-life outerwear, and flowing coats matched with knitted top hats. Satoshi Kondo received a well-deserved standing ovation, proving that his artistry continues to define fashion ambiguity beyond Japan.

Take a closer look at Issey Miyake’s FW25 womenswear collection in the gallery above.
