President Trump took executive action to pause tariffs on imports that are subject to the United States-Mexico-Canda Agreement for one month.

Roughly 38% of imports from Canada and 50% from Mexico are subject to the USMCA agreement and will not face the 25% tariff Trump implemented Tuesday for one month as a result.

The partial rollback follows discussions Trump had with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Thursday and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday.

Trump had slapped broad, across-the-board tariffs against Canada and Mexico after the US neighbors failed to meet his demands to crack down on the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants into the US.

The president previously agreed to exempt automobiles from the tariffs and Canadian energy is subject to a lower 10% tariff.
