President Trump tore into “sleazebag journalists” for jumping to “crazy” conspiracies at him greeting and thanking Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
The commander in chief was seen shaking Roberts’ hand after his address to Congress late Tuesday, with audio capturing him telling the justice: “Thank you again, I won’t forget it,”
Several leftist media outlets then claimed Trump was voicing his appreciation for the Supreme Court granting him absolute immunity from prosecution, with MSNBC’s “Deadline” among those questioning if the thanks “lies in any Trump-friendly court rulings.”
Trump insisted it was a completely innocent exchange — calling the reaction proof that “the Fake News never quits!”
“The Fake “Play the Ref” News, in order to create a divide between me and our great U.S. Supreme Court, heard me say last night, loudly and openly as I was walking past the Justices on the way to the podium, “thank you,” to Chief Justice John Roberts,” he wrote on Truth Social late Wednesday.
“Like most people, I don’t watch Fake News CNN or MSDNC, but I understand they are going ‘crazy’ asking what is it that I was thanking Justice Roberts for?” Trump continued, using his nickname suggesting MSNBC is an arm of the Democratic party (DNC).
“They never called my office to ask, of course, but if they had I would have told these sleazebag ‘journalists’ that I thanked him for SWEARING ME IN ON INAUGURATION DAY, AND DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB IN SO DOING!!”
Trump’s critique of liberal media comes as MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow politicized President Trump making 13-year-old cancer survivor Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel an honorary Secret Service agent.
Trump had praised DJ’s years-long fight with brain cancer in one of the most touching moments of his speech to Congress late Tuesday, with the brave child — wearing a police uniform — then proudly showing off his new law enforcement badge to the audience.
