The Miami Dolphins will officially keep star edge rusher Bradley Chubb. The parties have agreed on a salary reduction to keep him on the team through the 2025 season.

According to Jordan Schultz, “Sources: The #Dolphins and 2x Pro Bowl pass-rusher Bradley Chubb have agreed to a reduction in his base salary to remain with the team after missing last season due to injury. Chubb, who is fully recovered from the ACL injury, can still earn his full $21 million compensation through various playtime and sack incentives, and this ensures he stays in Miami.”

Chubb and the Dolphins have agreed to a reduced salary that will no doubt create cap space for the team. Though he agreed to a reduction, he can still make his promised $21 million compensation for 2025 through incentives like playtime and sack count.

Chubb missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL in the final game of the 2023 season. The hope was that Chubb would be able to return in 2025 at some point, but the team chose to shut him down instead.

Chubb was playing in the waning minutes of Week 17 against the Baltimore Ravens when he suffered the unfortunate ACL tear. Chubb had secured 11 sacks and six forced fumbles in the 2023 season before the injury occurred.

The Dolphins ended up going to the playoffs in 2023 but were eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round. The final 26-7 score was inactive of the injury struggles the team faced towards the end of the season.

Both Chubb and Jaelan Phillips were lost for the 2023 season, and both faced a similar end in 2024. Phillips returned in 2024 from a torn Achilles he suffered in 2023, but he suffered a knee injury in Week 4, ending his season prematurely once again.

When Chubb and Phillips were healthy, they were one of the most disruptive pass rushing duos in the league. Now, the Dolphins could see both rebound in 2025.

Keeping Chubb was paramount for the Dolphins, as they invested heavily in him following the blockbuster trade that sent a first-round pick and more to the Denver Broncos for the star pass rusher.

Now, Miami will presumably get to pair Chubb up with Chop Robinson, who emerged as a disruptive sacker in 2024. Robinson was nominated as Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The Dolphins are one of the worst teams in terms of available cap space, and the deal with Chubb is a win-win for both parties.
