The Mets made the biggest offseason swing, signing free-agent outfielder Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract — the largest in baseball history. The Mets also brought back slugging first baseman Pete Alonso, left-handed starter Sean Manaea, and outfielder Jesse Winker while adding right-handed closer Clay Holmes (New York Yankees), right-handed starter Frankie Montas (Milwaukee Brewers), and lefty reliever A.J. Minter (Atlanta Braves).
St. Louis didn’t make much noise in the offseason, with utility man Michael Helman being the only addition to the Cardinals roster. First basemen Paul Goldschmidt, Matt Carpenter, and reliever Andrew Kittredge departed in free agency, and the club chose to decline its options for pitchers Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson, and Keynan Middleton.
