Following weeks of teasing her upcoming country project, the recent Grammy-winner Chappell Roan has officially announced the release date for her new single.
Taking to Instagram to share the news to her fans, the singer revealed the process of the song, explaining that she wrote it with her frequent collaborator and producer Dan Nigro. In the post, Roan writes about her first foray into the genre, “We’ve never done a country song and I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bon fires, grocery stores and karaoke bars. Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album??? My answer is.. hmm right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun and The Giver is my take on cuntry xoxo may the classic country divas lead their genre, I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for yall.”
Titled “The Giver,” Roan initially debuted the single in a Saturday Night Live performance back in November 2024. The artist gave fans a taste of her country tune, later teasing the song for months by putting up billboards across the U.S. with a hotline fans can call to hear snippets of the song. Rising to prominence last year with single “Good Luck, Babe!,” Roan continues the momentum of her 2023 debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which launched her into stardom. Chappell Roan’s upcoming country single “The Giver” premieres on March 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
