Two teams fighting for playoff positioning in the loaded Western Conference battle it out on Sunday night when the Minnesota Timberwolves go on the road to take on the Phoenix Suns.
Both teams have struggled relative to expectations this season, as Minnesota sits just ninth in the Western Conference at 32-29, while Phoenix is even worse off at 28-32 and 11th in the West. Minnesota has lost its last two games, most recently falling 117-116 to the rebuilding Utah Jazz despite 27 points and 11 rebounds by Naz Reid.
Star guard Anthony Edwards missed the game due to a technical foul accumulation suspension. Even then, it was a tough loss for a Minnesota team trying to avoid the Play-In Tournament.

Phoenix, on the other hand, is coming off a win, a 125-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, in which Bol Bol led the way with 25 points and three rebounds. Trade deadline pickup Nick Richards also had a big game, scoring 19 points and securing 12 rebounds. The Suns will have to string together a lot more wins like that if they are going to make a playoff push this season. Over its last 10 games, Phoenix is just 3-7.
With two very talented teams desperate for a victory on Sunday, tonight’s game between Minnesota and Phoenix should be an entertaining, hard-fought contest.
