They’re a return-to-power couple.
After dating for nearly five years, Adrien Brody, 51, and Georgina Chapman, 48, have been the darlings of this award season thanks to their sweet romance and inspiring comeback stories.
Brody is a strong contender to take home the Oscar for Best Actor for “The Brutalist” after being overlooked for years.
When “The Brutalist” star won the Golden Globe for Best Actor (Drama) in January, he lovingly singled out Chapman in his acceptance speech.
“Your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be. I would not be standing here before you if it wasn’t for you,” he said.
Chapman, the ex-wife of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who is currently in prison after being convicted on several counts of rape and sexual assault, is back in the spotlight after years of excruciating turmoil.
“They have absolutely been there for each other through highs and lows,” a friend of the couple told Page Six.
The two had been acquainted with each other for years, but it wasn’t until April 2019 that romantic sparks ignited.
That was when they were both invited to the posh Dorado Beach Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico for the launch of model Helena Christensen’s swimwear line.
“George’s close friends told her ‘you need to get out of the house, she was in a really dark, awful place, she had isolated herself at home,” a friend of the couple told The Post.
On the Caribbean island, Brody and Chapman sat across from each other over a candlelight dinner with friends. In the fall of 2019, they started dating, a source told Page Six in 2020.
The two come from different worlds but their Hollywood lives collided organically.
Brody was born in Woodhaven, Queens, the son of history professor/painter Elliot Brody and Hungarian-born photographer Sylvia Plachy.
In 2003, at age 29, he became the youngest Best Actor Oscar winner when he took home the trophy for his work in “The Pianist.”
He went on a starvation diet and learned Chopin’s most famous work in six weeks to play Władysław Szpilman, a real-life musician and Holocaust survivor.
But, he followed the breakout role with a string of quirky roles and odd choices — from “King Kong” to various Wes Anderson films — that didn’t showcase his immense talents.
He admitted as such to Vulture saying, “It’s taken me [a long time] to find another real pillar of work that I want to leave behind.”
The friend put it more bluntly, telling Page Six “Adrien’s career clearly had such a high early on and then dipped and now it’s on its way back up.”
His love life over the years had a similarly lackluster quality. Over the years, he dated everyone from model Elsa Pataky to actresses January Jones and Lara Lieto but never married.
Chapman grew up in the tony London enclave of Richmond, the daughter of multi-millionaire entrepreneur Brian Chapman and journalist Caroline Wonfor. She started modeling as a teenager, and attended the Chelsea College of Art and Design.
She met Weinstein in 2004, the same year that she launched her women’s couture label Marchesa with business partner Keren Craig.
The label’s romantic evening gowns were worn by the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Blachett, Renee Zellweger and Anne Hathaway, but Chapman was the face of her brand.
She wore an ivory tulle gown that she’d designed herself when she married Weinstein in 2007 at age 31. A who’s who of A-Listers — Lopez, Anna Wintour, Quentin Tarantino and Cameron Diaz — attended their wedding at Weinstein’s waterfront home in Westport, Conn.
In the years that followed Marchesa grew into an “it” label for red carpets and weddings and expanded to include the more affordable Marchesa Notte brand. Chapman had a long and successful stint as a “Project Runway” judge and she and Weinstein had two children, India, now 15, and Dashiell, now 10.
But, their Hollywood life ended in disgrace when a number of women made disturbing abuse allegations against Weinstein in 2017, sparking the #MeToo movement.
The pair split soon after and reached a divorce settlement in 2018.
“It was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs,” Chapman told Vogue in 2018 of her ex-husband’s abuse allegations coming to light. “There was part of me that was terribly naive – clearly, so naive. I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, and I have moments of disbelief! And I have moments when I just cry for my children.”
She canceled the runway show for Marchesa’s Fall 2018 collection, sparking rumors that the brand was on the downturn. A collaboration with Helzberg Diamonds was put on ice and employees of the designer brand exited in droves.
“When [Chapman] started out she was really huge and popular — when this happened she was not at a high point. Her business was on a bit of a downturn. Her businesses had challenges anyway — they needed more financial support,” a fashion insider who ran in the same circles at Chapman told Page Six.
But some fashionistas remained loyal.
Designer Diane Von Furstenberg came to Chapman’s defense in April 2018, telling The Hollywood Reporter of the former CFDA board member: “We all support her.”
Johansson wore a blood-red Marchesa gown to the Met Gala that May, becoming the first star to wear the designer since the allegations of abuse by Weinstein came out.
But the label has never shown at New York Fashion Week since the scandal broke.
This awards season has been a chance for Chapman to return to the spotlight, looking as lovely as ever on Brody’s arm.
She’s worn a number of Marchesa gowns on the red carpet, most recently, a dreamy sculptural strapless number with a black velvet bodice, peplum silhouette and floral accents flowing into a nude tulle skirt for the BAFTA awards.
Brody took home the trophy there and praised her as “an angel” in his acceptance speech.
Insiders say the couple’s romance is as beautiful behind closed doors as it is on the awards stage. A source close to Chapman and Brody told Page Six the pair are living together upstate.
“Georgina’s career has had its fair share of troubles too, but they try to champion each other personally, they fill each other with love and try to raise each other up,” the friend of the couple said.
“Their relationship is much more different than the one George had with Harvey, she and Adrien feel more like partners,” the pal added.
Others aren’t surprised by Chapman’s second act in Hollywood. “She was always front and center at the Oscars and she’s managed to find her way back,” the fashion insider said.
A former Weinstein Company executive told The Post Chapman is getting her due and finding peace after a turbulent few years.
“Georgina was always the epitome of grace, brilliance, and warmth — even in the most impossible of circumstances. Anyone who knew her back then could see she was focused on her work, her children, and maintaining a level of dignity that frankly, many wouldn’t have been able to manage given the firestorm she was caught in,” they told Page Six.
“To see her moving forward, thriving in her own right, and now finding happiness with Adrien? It’s inspiring. She deserves nothing but the best.”
