After actor Michelle Trachtenberg’s tragic death at age 39 earlier this week, homages have come from her fans and former costars, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kim Cattrall, and David Boreanaz. On Thursday, Princess Eugenie chimed in with an Instagram story where she honored her friend. “Goodbye special friend,” she wrote. “You are so loved and missed. Thank you for so many memories of laughter and fun.”
Eugenie became friends with Trachtenberg when she lived in New York City and worked for the art auction start-up Paddle8 from 2013 to 2015. Their friendship first became public in December 2013, when they were photographed courtside at a Knicks game alongside actor Michael K. Williams. Over the following years, Trachtenberg shared a few photos of Eugenie to her Instagram account, including one 2016 moment when the princess gave her a tour of an exhibition at her current employer, art gallery Hauser and Wirth.
In her memorial post, the princess shared a photo from her New York days and added a few personal remembrances about hanging out with Trachtenberg. “You were so thoughtful and generous and soooo funny,” she said. “My favourite was listening to you order food, always done with precision so you got exactly what we all wanted. I’m thinking of you up there friend, of your spirit that was so bright and your joy you brought so many.”
In December 2020, Trachtenberg mentioned Eugenie in a post where she shared her thoughts about the COVID pandemic. “Eugenie has been one of the most dearest, kindest, most genuine friends I have ever had in my life,” the actor wrote. “As we are going through these very challenging times. I’m finding new levels of gratitude. I am grateful for the relationships I have made over the years.”
The princess, who married Jack Brooksbank in 2018, is now the mother of two. Earlier this month, she celebrated the fourth birthday of her son August Brooksbank with a post sharing a few outdoor adventures that she and Jack had taken with August and his younger brother, Ernie Brooksbank.
