Camps are a integral part of Monster Hunter Wilds. In Wilds, you’ll visit camps in each of the game’s unique locales, and won’t really have a big city hub to return to after hunts. But you won’t just rely on these base camps, you’ll also need to find and establish pop-up camps around the area, some of which can be destroyed by monsters if you’re not careful.

In this in-progress Monster Hunter Wilds guide, we’ll walk you through how to set up camps, and show you maps of all the camps we’ve found so far in the first two environments.

How to find and establish new camps in Monster Hunter Wilds

As you explore each new area in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll come across secluded and not-so-secluded areas where you can put down a campsite. Once you’ve discovered a potential campsite, you’ll be able to talk to a Palico in that area’s base camp to build a pop-up tent there, which you’ll be able to use to as a fast-travel point, to replenish your loadout, or to respawn at if you faint.

You won’t be able to have every camp site active in each area and will need to choose, with some being more dangerous — as in monsters can break them, causing them to be temporarily disabled — than others. You can unlock additional slots by progressing through the main story.

There are five main regions in Monster Hunter Wilds where you can build pop-up camps: Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Iceshard Clifs, Oilwell Basin, and Ruins of Wyveria. Below, you’ll find maps for Windward Plains and Scarlet forest. Check back later for the remaining three areas!

Windward Plains camp locations

So far in our exploration of the Windward Plains, we’ve found 11 campsites, which you can find in these areas:

  1. South Campsite (Area 3, by the ledge)
  2. Mineral Cave Campsite (Area 4, inside the cave itself)
  3. West Campsite (Area 4, resting against the cliff wall)
  4. Southwest Campsite (Area 8, on the sand)
  5. Southeast Campsite (Area 8, near the grouping of trees)
  6. Lookout Hill Campsite (Area 9, up the cliff vines)
  7. Southeast Campsite (Area 10, under the dead tree)
  8. Oasis Campsite (Area 13, next to the pool of water)
  9. West Campsite (Area 13, between two sand dunes)
  10. Groundwater Vein Campsite (Area 14, in the cave under the oasis)
  11. Northwest Campsite (Area 16, between the spiked rocks)

Scarlet Forest camp locations

So far in our exploration of the Scarlet Forest, we’ve found 10 campsites, which you can find in these areas:

  1. Flowering Rocks Campsite (Area 6, through a gap in the vines)
  2. Bower of the Great Tree Campsite (Area 7, on the ledge by the river)
  3. South Campsite (Area 8, by the twin trees)
  4. Underground Lake Campsite (Area 8, in a cave behind the waterfall)
  5. Southwest Campsite (Area 10, at the top of the ridge)
  6. Northeast Campsite (Area 12, on a ridge by the river)
  7. Ruin Interior Campsite (Area 16, on the long path near the waterfall)
  8. Great Lake Shore Campsite (Area 17, at the top of the ruin)
  9. West Campsite (Area 18, in the large treetop platform)
  10. Treetop Hill Campsite (Area 18, in the small, elevated treetop platform)

Check back later for maps of pop-up camps in the Oilwell Basin, Iceshard Cliffs, and Ruins of Wyveria areas.

In the meantime, our Monster Hunter Wilds guides can outline your progress with our main story walkthrough and monster list ahead of reaching High Rank, help you settle on an armament with our weapons list and best weapons explainers, and teach you how to uncover ores, bones, and get monster tails.
