Marni’s Fall/Winter 2025 Vol. 2 collection, “The Pink Sun,” is a striking fusion of historical elegance and underground energy. Born from an unexpected collaboration between designer Francesco Risso, artist Olaolu Slawn and creative collective Soldier Boyfriend, the collection reflects the unfiltered spontaneity of their artistic exchange. Over a month-long residency, the trio transformed their shared studio into a dynamic space where traditional craftsmanship collided with raw, experimental creativity.
At the heart of this collection is The Salon – a concept that extends beyond fashion, turning Marni’s world into a living, breathing canvas. Inspired by the smoky ambiance of Milanese cafés and the intimate conversations of old-world art salons, the show embodies Marni’s continuous evolution, bridging the brand’s heritage with its ever-shifting creative identity.
The collection reinterprets familiar motifs in unexpected ways. A wolf’s hide is sculpted into a sharply tailored suit, florals erupt from satin gowns in vivid bursts and tufts of fur spill from garments like something out of a dream. The balance between wearability and fantasy defines the collection, capturing the uninhibited artistic spirit that fueled its creation.
One of the defining elements of “The Pink Sun” is the infusion of Slawn’s artwork, which serves as the foundation for the collection’s bold prints. His signature raw brushstrokes and vivid color palettes seamlessly translate onto Marni’s silhouettes, turning garments into moving canvases. This artistic energy was on full display in the show’s standout looks, including a sculptural satin dress worn by Tracee Ellis Ross. The piece, featuring a striking Slawn design in bold black lines and yellow curry cuffs, perfectly embodied the collection’s electric energy.
