A South Carolina congressman announced he’s drafting legislation to feature President Trump on a new $250 bill – despite federal laws restricting any living person from appearing on US currency.

Republican Rep. Joe Wilson showcased an AI-generated design of the commander in chief’s face adorning the hefty new buck on social media, telling supporters his proposal would benefit Americans ravaged by “Bidenflation” who are now forced to carry more cash.

“Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump,” Wilson, who has represented the Palmetto State’s 2nd District since 2001, posted to X.

“Bidenflation has destroyed the economy forcing American families to carry more cash. Most valuable bill for most valuable President!”

Wilson’s bill, however, would contradict current laws that forbid portraits of any living person from appearing on American money. The tradition, to avoid the appearance of a monarchy and only feature images of deceased individuals, became law in 1866.

Bills larger than $100 have also been discontinued from circulation since 1969 due to lack of use, according to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

The latest notion from the Republican-controlled House of Representatives comes more than a week after an upstate New York congresswoman pushed for Trump’s birthday to be a federal holiday.

Rep. Claudia Tenney said she introduced legislation to merge the existing annual Flag Day commemoration with the president’s birthday for a new combined holiday to be celebrated June 14.

“By designating Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day as a federal holiday, we can ensure President Trump’s contributions to American greatness and the importance of the American Flag are forever enshrined into law,” the Republican congresswoman said in her announcement.

June 14 has been celebrated as Flag Day since President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation in 1916 declaring it as the day to celebrate the Stars and Stripes.

The holiday was officially established through an act of Congress in August 1949.
