Carrie Coon was forced to clarify rumors that she has an open marriage after admitting her husband, Tracy Letts, tells her about his crushes on other women.
“Settle down, internet! I said ‘open minded’ not ‘open,’” the “White Lotus” star wrote on X Tuesday.
Coon’s explanation came one day after she appeared on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast, where she candidly shared that she and Letts talk openly about their wandering eyes.
“That’s the nice thing about a marriage where everything’s on the table; you talk about everything,” she said in Monday’s episode.
“We’re not jealous people. Like, we don’t have any of those hang-ups. So we never wanna be, like, the police, you know? So it’s nice to be in a relationship where we can always talk about, like, ‘Who are you attracted to on set?’”
When the show’s host expressed surprise, Coon, 44, defended Letts, 59, and declared, “I love it!”
“Tracy’s the kind of person who notices every single woman on the street … and he always tells me who he has a crush on,” she said.
“It’s fun. It’s interesting to know what your partner’s into. I think it’s titillating.”
When asked whether she believes the couple’s roving eyes go “over the line,” the “Fargo” alum replied, “We don’t really like lines. Lines are really boring. I mean, look, life is short, finite.”
Coon and Letts, a Pulitzer- and Tony-winning playwright, met in 2010 while working on a Broadway revival of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”
The pair married in 2013 and welcomed two children, son Haskell and a daughter whose name they have yet to reveal, in 2018 and 2021, respectively.
Letts has not publicly commented on his wife’s eyebrow-raising comments.
