A dress with history.
On Tuesday night, Ariana Grande, 31, continued her vintage fashion streak at the 2025 Academy Awards Nominee Dinner, arriving in an archival Yves Saint Laurent gown from the French label’s fall 1991 haute couture collection.
Plucked from Beverly Hills archival shop Lily et Cie, the black chiffon number is decorated with pink feather accents and a bow-trimmed bodice.
The gown first hit the runway in 1991, and two years later, renowned French actress Catherine Deneuve wore the couture dress to the Oscars, where she presented the costume design award to Eiko Ishioka for Bram Stoker’s “Dracula.”
Deneuve styled the piece with colorful dangly earrings, similar to the chandelier style shown on the runway, as well as a statement bracelet and sleek black watch.
She added more flair to the red carpet look by way of a magenta clutch and coordinating heels.
Collaborating with her stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, the first-time Oscar nominee, who is up for best supporting actress for her role as Glinda in “Wicked,” went in a more minimal direction with her look last night, completing the ensemble with simple pearl earrings.
Grande put all the focus on the vintage gown, wearing her hair in a slicked-back bun.
Her rosy pink cheeks and soft pink lipstick perfectly complemented the vintage piece.
Grande has been digging into the archives in recent weeks. She wore two vintage gowns to host “SNL” in October 2024 and kicked off awards season at the Golden Globes 2025 in a butter yellow Givenchy 1966 haute couture gown designed by Hubert de Givenchy, all of which she also sourced from Lily et Cie.
Earlier this month, she stepped out in a truly magical pink Chanel 1992 tutu-inspired gown from the same shop for the Producers Guild of America Awards.
Will Grande turn to the archives for the Oscars on Sunday night? Only time will tell.
