Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Donald Trump and Elon Musk on Live for the mass layoffs government employees have been facing since Trump took office last month.

“The federal government is in unprecedented disarray,” the late night host said Monday (Feb. 24).

“Ordinarily you have compassion when you lay people off, you wish them well you thank them for their work. Not MAGA, not the DOGE bros,” he continued. “They’re throwing career-long civil servants, many of whom have worked these jobs for decades, out in the street like they’re fish garbage.”

He then called out President Trump for wasting “$10.7 million of tax money playing golf,” per a report from HuffPost, which notes the president has taken a seven-figure golf trip on every weekend since he’s returned to the White House.

As Kimmel put it to his Live viewers, Trump has spent nine of his first 30 days in the White House playing golf on the job, “while you’re making payments on an egg salad sandwich.”

But his hobby hasn’t stopped him from accusing other government employees of playing golf while working from home.

“He amped the hypocrisy up another notch by accusing employees of the government who work from home of being out playing golf instead of working,” Kimmel said, later adding, “Donald Trump, a guy who literally worked from home and is out playing golf instead of working, saying these work from home employees are out playing golf. There’s almost no parallel. It’s like Diddy complaining you bought too much baby oil.”

Kimmel also called out Musk’s new policy requiring government employees to email his each week with a bulleted list of five things they accomplished at work that week.

“It’s like the governments being run by Buzzfeed,” he joked.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
