A pair of Colorado men got creative in Louisiana, using an air compressed cannon in a failed bid to launch drugs and tobacco onto the grounds of a federal prison.

Jose Francisco Herrera Munoz, 18, and Angel Gonzales Gutierrez, 19, tried using the air cannon to fire $112,000 worth of tobacco and $89,500 in methamphetamine over a fence and into the Federal Correctional Complex in Pollock.

The cannon they were caught with, similar to those used to send T-shirts into crowds in big arenas, can propel objects more than 350 feet.

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies learned of the plans for the caper in an investigation, WBAZ reported.

Both suspects were arrested for attempting to introduce contraband into a penal institution and attempting to distribute methamphetamine.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also took part in the probe. Munoz, who came to the U.S. illegally, was detained by the agency, and now faces deportation.
