Jordan Spieth is one of the most recognizable names on the PGA Tour. Yet, injuries have derailed his success as of late, limiting his time on Tour. Surprisingly, he announced his next PGA Tour start will be in the field for next week’s Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.

The tournament marks the beginning of the Florida swing, with four of the next five events in the Sunshine State.

It will be Spieth’s first start in what used to be known as the Honda Classic.

The former Texas Longhorn has made three starts this season after wrist surgery last August. However, his results have been inconsistent.

Spieth finished T69 at Pebble Beach, T4 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and missed the cut on a sponsor’s exemption at the Genesis Invitational.

Smylie Kaufman recently had him on his podcast to discuss his injury and other topics.

The soon-to-be dad of three did not mention playing at the Cognizant Classic on the podcast, but he said he was looking forward to the Florida Swing.

Spieth will play in The PLAYERS, but a sponsor exemption would be required to play at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The fourth Signature Event of the 2025 PGA Tour season is the week after the Cognizant Classic.

There are three top-20 players in the field for the first Florida event: No. 17 Russell Henley, No. 18 Sepp Straka and No. 19 Shane Lowry.

Joining them will be Luke Clanton, the amateur phenom from Florida State who is trying to secure the final point to earn his PGA Tour card through the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. All he needs to do is make the cut, and it will make him the second player, joining Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt, to earn the 20 points necessary. The FSU junior recently inked a deal with Nike.
