Move over Pixar, because the new animated Chinese film, Ne Zha 2, is breaking box office records for animated films left and right.
This sequel to the 2019 animated film, Ne Zha, recently surpassed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, surpassing Inside Out 2 as the highest-grossing animated film of all time—the first time a non-English language film has done so. (As of now, Inside Out 2 has still made more total money, with a combined box office of $1.69 billion, but because Inside Out 2 cost more money than Ne Zha 2 to make, the gross total is less.) It’s certain to be one of the top earners of the 2025 box office, and it’s only been in U.S. theaters for a week.
The Ne Zha franchise is loosely based on the popular Chinese mythological character Nezha, who, in this telling of the story, is a child with a demonic curse place on him, who believes he is destined to become a great demon slayer. This sequel follows Ne Zha and Ao Bing, the son of a dragon king, who have been turned into Spirits.
Like the first film, Ne Zha 2 received positive reviews from critics, and, clearly has made a positive impression on moviegoers. Here’s what to know about where to watch Ne Zha 2, and where you can stream Ne Zha.

For now, Ne Zha 2 is only be available to watch in a movie theater. It opened in theaters wide across the U.S. last week, on February 14, and has already earned over $8 million at the U.S. box office alone. You can find a showing at a movie theater near you via Fandango. Ne Zha 2 is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
