Craig Green joins forces with ECCO.kollektive this season, reshaping the boundaries of leather craftsmanship. Unveiled during Craig Green’s Spring/Summer 2025 show in London last year, the collaboration between the fashion label and shoe brand push the boundaries of conventional footwear forms by reengineering, deconstructing and reconstructing silhouettes.
ECCO’s collaborative platform, ECCO.kollektive expands its reach with the now released Craig Green collaboration, bringing the designer’s masterful and innovative styling to its Joke silhouette. Reimagining the entirety of the shoe in collaboration with the ECCO Leather Atelier, Craig Green transformed the leather into more dramatic, movement-focused layered jacket compositions. Leather exoskeletons were created through the reconstruction of ECCO’s leather, which made way for Green to reimagine ECCO’s Joke shoe using the leather material.
The Joke silhouette is an archival piece from the late 1970s and by fusing ECCO’s innovative material with Green’s deconstructing design ethos, Green was able to reinterpret his design language to the shoe. He said, “‘Our goal for this project was to respectfully challenge the original Joke design in order to create something both forward-looking and practical.” Utilizing ECCO’s Apparition Leather, which is a transparent yet pliable material, Green fused the soft suede a fibre 15 time stronger than steel to give the shoe added durability. Craig Green reimagines the Joke FSDX, APRITN, CONCEPT and Pull on utilizing various leather combinations and color blocking. The collaboration is now available on HBX.
