Cops flipped out over this cute critter.
New Haven police said a baby seal somehow flopped its way into the middle of the Connecticut city on Sunday — creating a small traffic jam and quite a stir in the process.
“The seal was found at Chapel Street/East Street after being called in by a passerby about 2:20PM on Sunday,” police department spokesman Christian Bruckhart said in an email to The Post Tuesday.
“The caller reported it might be injured,” Bruckhart said. “Officers stayed with him until he was eventually transferred to Mystic Aquarium for rehabilitation. I checked with them yesterday and he’s recuperating. We assumed he was here to try the clam pizza but I can’t confirm that. We’re just happy he’s safe.”
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environment was called in to rescue the stranded seal and transported him to the aquarium, officials said in an Instagram post.
“Awwww it’s just a baby,” one Instagram user posted on the site. “It was lost ! Awwww I hope he was escorted to the water ! Awwww baby.”
“Must be looking for some good pizza,” quipped another.
Police said it’s still unclear where the seal came from.
In an email Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Mystic Aquarium said the seal was still recuperating.
“We are working on getting more updates as the week goes on, but as of now we can report that the gray seal is bright and alert, and showing interest in fish, though he is still not eating on his own,” they said.
“In the meantime, he is being fed fish formula and is getting fish school (where we teach them that fish are food) daily,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, cops said they’re still scratching their heads over the incident.
“Seal on the streets wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card, I’ll be honest,” Bruckhart said.
