EXCLUSIVE: Veteran TV director-producer Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Zero Day) has been tapped to direct the pilot and executive produce Apple TV+’s new limited series Imperfect Women, starring and executive produced by Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington.
Adapted for television by Physical creator Annie Weisman from Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, Imperfect Women is an unconventional, psychological thriller examining a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. Kate Mara stars alongside Moss and Washington.
Moss and Lindsey McManus executive produce via their production company Love & Squalor Pictures, who initially optioned the book. Washington executive produce for Simpson Street alongside Pilar Savone. Glatter and Hall also executive produce. The series, from 20th Television and Apple Studios, will shoot in Los Angeles.

Glatter has won DGA Awards for Homeland and Mad Men, with her work on the two series also earning her Emmy nominations. She most recently served as a director/executive producer on Max’s Love & Death, written by David E. Kelley and starring Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons, and the upcoming Netflix limited series Zero Day, which premieres Feb. 20. It stars Robert DeNiro, Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Matthew Modine, and Joan Allen.
In her role as President of the Directors Guild of America, Glatter gave a rousing speech at the recent DGA Awards as she recalled the recent L.A. fires, in which she, like so many others, lost her home, and urged her fellow directors to do everything they can to bring production back to L.A.
“We simply cannot lose Hollywood,” she said, adding, “I start prep on my next project in March and I’m proud to say it’s shooting in Los Angeles.”
That project is Imperfect Women.
Glatter is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
