Following the previous release of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX, IWC has unveiled another special timepiece ahead of the new Formula 1 season: The Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff. First spotted off the race track and on the wrist of Toto Wolff – Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team’s CEO – the timepiece is specially engineered to withstand intense motorsport stresses.
Dressed in a PETRONAS green palette, the 44mm watch is crafted from Ceratanium® – a patented material that combines the qualities of titanium and ceramic – from the case to the crown. It houses a grainy and stamped dial in black, accompanied by luminous triangular hands for legibility in low-light environments.
A notable feature of the watch is that it’s equipped with IWC’s patented SPRIN-g PROTECT® shock absorber system. First introduced in 2021 with the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL, the system helps to enhance movement shock protection using a cantilever spring. This spring, made from bulk metallic glass (BMG), cushions the movement inside the case while absorbing and evenly distributing high g-forces from physical impacts.
The new time-teller is powered by the 32101 Manufacture caliber, offering a power reserve of 120 hours. The blackened movement is visible through a tinted sapphire glass caseback and is complete with an integrated green rubber strap, as well as an additional black rubber strap.
Limited to 100 examples with a price point of $102,000 USD, the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-Amg Petronas F1 Team limited edition is available for inquiry through IWC.
