On Monday, Kate Middleton and Prince William announced that they were going to miss the BAFTAs, their annual appearance at the awards show where they dress in black tie to celebrate the best that the British film and television industry has to offer. Though they won’t be getting a date night at the ceremony on February 16, the couple is still finding a way to show some affection publicly. On Friday, the prince and princess posted a portrait on their Instagram account captioned with a heart emoji.

The portrait shows William leaning in to kiss his wife on the cheek as they sit on a plaid blanket in a forest grove. The prince and princess are both wearing blue polos, shorts, and sneakers; Kate’s shoes are from Veja while William’s are New Balances. The photo is a still from the video the couple released back in September where Kate announced that she had completed her chemotherapy treatments. That video was recorded in Norfolk, where the family has a country home, by filmmaker and influencer Will Warr.
William and Kate will not be walking the red carpet at the BAFTA ceremony on Sunday, likely because the event coincides with their children’s school break. As president of the film and TV organization, William will make a video appearance during the awards show. In lieu of attending the show this year, the prince made a visit to the London Screen Academy, where he spoke with senior students working on a short film.
According to The Mirror, William was especially fascinated by the “steampunk” elements of the set the students were working on, and when he was shown a costume featuring a tartan top with a chain, he said he might be interested in wearing it. “You know, I might do,” the prince quipped. “Saturday night out, why not?”
