It’s about that time of the year where we long for warmer weather, beach days, and poolside hangs. Luckily, Summer House is returning to Bravo for Season 9, allowing viewers to live vicariously through the Hamptons weekend crew until it’s finally time to bust out a pair of denim shorts and a glass of rosé. But with everything that’s happened among the cast, will they still be able to make their summer fun?
SUMMER HOUSE – SEASON 9: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?
Opening Shot: Summer House Season 9 opens with a clip from the Season 8 reunion, during which moderator Andy Cohen asks if that same group of people would be able to “send it” under one roof again. Flash forward two months and the gang is heading back to the Hamptons for another summer of fun, drama, and hijinks.
The Gist: With the exception of Danielle Olivera, Summer House Season 9 brings back the same cast from last season, including Paige DeSorbo, Amanda Batula, Kyle Cooke, Lindsay Hubbard, Ciara Miller, Jesse Solomon, West Wilson, Gabby Prescod, Carl Radke and new additions Imrul Hassan and Lexi Wood.
With Ciara and West back under the same roof for the first time since their messy breakup (not including the reunion), tensions appear to be higher than ever. As West awkwardly attempts to figure out where he stands in the group, Ciara has no problem letting him (and everyone else) know how she really feels. But they’re not the only former couple heading back to the Hamptons. Carl and Lindsay, who ended their engagement after filming for Season 8 wrapped the summer before, must also navigate their new normal — especially now that Lindsay is returning to the house pregnant with her new boyfriend’s baby. Meanwhile, Jesse has made his interest in Lexi loud and clear — and from the looks of it, the feelings might be mutual.
What Shows Will This Remind You Of? Summer House will remind you of other Bravo shows like the Summer House Martha’s Vineyard spinoff and Winter House, both of which have been put on pause. We can also go one step further by describing Summer House a classier, fancier version of the original Jersey Shore.
Our Take: Summer should be fun — and that’s exactly what Summer House Season 9 is. While we’re still in the very early stages, it’s clear that this season has the same high-energy and dramatic potential as past seasons. Part of what makes the premiere episode unlike any other is Lindsay’s pregnancy announcement to the group, marking the first time someone in the house has been pregnant. However, Lindsay’s big news does have some folks worried. With Carl coming the next morning, Jesse seems a little bit concerned about how he will react since it wasn’t so long ago that he and Lindsay were planning their futures together. What will happen when they do come face to face for the first time? We’ll just have to find out! Although it should be noted that Amanda and Kyle told DECIDER that the former couple had a “better vibe in the house” than Ciara and West, whose failed romantic history put them on opposite sides of the aisle heading into summer 2024.
Sex and Skin: No explicit sex so far this season — but there’s certainly some sexual tension between Jesse and Lexi.
Sleeper Star: We’re going to give it to Ciara, who is not hiding her very clear disdain for West. Not only does she dodge him at all costs, but she also promises to “put [her] dick on the table and make it very clear that West is a fucking loser.” Ouch!
Most Pilot-y Line: “The general consensus is that we hate boys,” Ciara says as she fills everyone in on her feelings about West, while Lexi playfully adds, “Unless they’re really cute.” Is there any better way to explain dating in your twenties? I think not!
Our Call: STREAM IT. Summer House Season 9 is the perfect cure for those winter blues.
Summer House airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
