Who was Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian rooting for at Super Bowl LIX? His wife Serena Williams, of course. The superstar tennis champion made a surprise appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, and it’s all Ohanian cared about.
ICYMI, Lamar took to the field at halftime to perform a number of songs, with help from Samuel L. Jackson dressed as Uncle Sam and additional vocal stylings by SZA. But there was also a split-second cameo by Williams, who Crip walked on a platform while Lamar sang “Not Like Us.” It was a cool moment, to bring out one of the greatest athletes of all time during the Big Game, but of course, anyone who follows celebrity gossip knew there was a deeper meaning: “Not Like Us” is a diss song about Drake, whom Williams briefly dated. Yeah, the Chiefs got pretty badly beaten on Sunday, but ultimately, it was Drake taking the largest L of the night.
In case you forgot, Williams has her own longstanding beef with Drake.
Up in the stands, Williams’ husband was just along for the ride. “Pretty fantastic halftime show,” he posted on Twitter, later revealing that he was seated with rapper Doechii.

He also retweeted the black-and-white Nike ad that aired during the game with the caption “EVERYONE WATCHES WOMENS SPORTS” and a GIF of Williams dancing captioned “highlight of the Super Bowl.” I’m not saying Alexis doesn’t like football, I’m just saying, he was there to cheer for Serena (and maybe to network).
When Drake called Ohanian a “groupie” in a 2022 song, the entrepreneur wore the label proudly, calling himself the best groupie for his wife and their daughter Olympia (they have since welcomed another girl, Adira). Cheering on your wife as she performs at the Superb Owl halftime show when she’s not even a musician? Yeah, peak groupie behavior for the nation’s leading Wife Guy. Complimentary.
