Kendrick Lamar graced the stage of Caesars Superdome for his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performance where he delivered a set of classics, fan favorites and newer cuts from his discography.
The performance kicked off with an introduction from Samuel Jackson, who was dressed up in his patriotic “Uncle Sam” stars and stripes getup and appeared between songs. Dot began atop a Grand National Buick, the imagery heavily associated with his latest album GNX, and started things off with ”squabble up” before throwing it back to 2017 with “HUMBLE.” and “DNA.”
Returning to the present, Lamar continued with “euphoria” — one of his diss tracks aimed at Drake — before jumping back into GNX with a short stint with “man at the garden” and “peekaboo.” He begins to tease “Not Like Us” only to take it down a slower road with SZA, who joined Dot on stage to perform their latest collab “luther” as well as their Black Panther offering “All The Stars.”
The energy kicks back up as the artist goes off with “Not Like Us,” which sees tennis legend Serena Williams as one of his on-stage dancers and allowing the crowd to scream their favorite lines from every corner of the arena. Dot closes it off with “tv off” and, of course, brings out none other than Mustard himself.
